The Gatimaan leaves from Hazrat Nizamuddin, not from New Delhi. This page sorts the Delhi stations by what leaves from each, how the Metro links to them, and what the official pages say about platforms.

Delhi has more than one big railway station, and the Agra trains do not share a single one. The Gatimaan Express was flagged off at Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway station, and its regular run began there with the 12050 leaving at 08.10 a.m. for Agra Cantt.1,2 That is the station you need for the tour on this site too: the listing says the driver takes you to Nizamuddin railway station and helps you find your coach. Match the name on your ticket to the station before you leave the hotel, because a taxi driver will take you where you say.
New Delhi is the station Incredible India lists as the nearest railway station for Delhi, code NDLS.6 It is also where the railway's own Shatabdi list shows the Bhopal Shatabdi 12002 leaving at 06:00.7 The Taj Mahal site names Shatabdi, Rajdhani, Gatimaan, Taj Express and Palace on Wheels as the main trains connecting Agra with Delhi, so a New Delhi to Agra train search returns a mix of stations.8 Read each result's departure station, not just its name.
Old Delhi is the third big name, and the official pages we read link no Agra train to it. Its place in this page is as a Metro stop, because Chandni Chowk metro station sits about 100 m from Old Delhi railway station, joined by a subway.9 If your hotel is in the old walled city, that subway is the neat way into the station, but check your ticket before you assume the train leaves from there.
People search for the Gatimaan Express Nizamuddin platform because a station of that size is hard to read on arrival. The honest official answer is that the pages we read print no platform number for the Gatimaan Express at Nizamuddin. The launch releases give a train number pair, 12050 and 12049, a station and a time, but not a platform.2,11 Look for the number on the station's display boards when you arrive, and do not rely on a figure copied from a forum post.
What the pages do give you is the station's character. The launch release lists the commissioning of the main concourse at Hazrat Nizamuddin among that day's events.12 It does not describe where the concourse sits or how far the platforms are from it, and nothing in the launch papers or the tour listing gives a walking time inside the station. Build in spare minutes rather than relying on a figure, because a calm look at the display boards beats a run along the platform. Treat that as the reason to arrive with spare time rather than a number to memorize.
If you booked the day tour on this site, the question disappears: the driver drops you at the station and helps you find the coach, and the same driver waits outside your coach on the way back. The listing prints the train departure as 8:00 AM, while the railway's own launch release has 08.10 a.m.2 The sources differ here, so treat the ticket as final, and allow time at the station whichever clock is right.2
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation publishes a list of metro stations that connect with railway stations. For Hazrat Nizamuddin it names Sarai Kale Khan-Nizamuddin metro station at about 200 m, joined with a road, so the last part is a short walk or ride along the road rather than a covered link.3 For anyone landing with a suitcase before an 08.10 a.m. departure, that road section is the part to plan for.2
At New Delhi the connection is closer. The same list puts New Delhi metro station about 100 m from New Delhi Railway Station, joined by a foot overbridge.4 The airport line starts there too: the Airport Express runs between New Delhi Railway Station and Dwarka, with direct access to Terminal 3, and takes around 25 minutes from New Delhi Railway Station.5 Its table lists the first train from New Delhi at 4:45 AM and the last at 11:30 PM.13
From the airport the Metro station for Terminals T3 and T2 is called Airport (T-3).14 The pages we read give no direct Metro time from the airport to Nizamuddin, so the simple route is the Airport Express to New Delhi and then a taxi or the Metro onward. If you are heading to Agra by tour, the pickup can start from the airport itself, since the record lists pickup from any hotel in Delhi or the NCR or the airport.

Travel time is just around 25 minutes from New Delhi Railway Station
Carry the ticket and an identity document. Tourists must carry identity proof issued by government authorities at the Taj Mahal, so bring that document anyway, and foreign tourists who booked through the Foreign Tourist Quota gave a passport number at booking.26,35 Keep the booking message on your phone as well, because the verification message and the confirmation mail follow the payment.36 Having both ready in one pocket saves a long search at the barrier.
Keep luggage light. The Taj Mahal asks visitors to avoid big bags and books because they can increase security check time, and the same bag will feel heavier on a station platform than anywhere else on the trip.37 Water bottles are allowed inside the monument, so one in your bag does no harm.27 Onboard catering on the Gatimaan is organised by IRCTC, which also deploys train hostesses.38
Finally, remember the station you leave from and the station you come back to may differ in how you reach them. The Metro runs from New Delhi to the airport between 4:45 AM and 11:30 PM, and Nizamuddin has its own Metro station at the end of a short road.13,3 Write down 'Nizamuddin, Agra Cantt, Nizamuddin' and keep it where you can read it; the day tour sends a driver for the return, and that is the one place where nobody asks you which station you meant.
